The DES has adopted more democratic structure that allows Teacher participation in academic and administrative matters. It has become a model of the teacher-managed institutions in Maharashtra and symbolized PEOPLE’S INTIATIVE in spreading Education. Most of the institutions run by DES, are at par with one of the best institutions in In dia. The student-centered over-all education provided by its in situations can be distinctively seen by the past students of the various Institutions run by DES.Over a century DES has grown from a tiny sapling in to a massive ‘Bodhi’ tree with roots in thousand places in myriad he arts of its alumni. At present DES has to its credit 8 colleges, 8 collegiate Institutes offering technical, vocational and management programs.As a mark of its second centennial, Deccan Education Society (DES) has ta ken an ambitious project of starting the Institute ofTechnology and developmental studies: Navinchandra Mehta Institute of Technology and Development (NMITD), in the city of Mumbai.
