Admission Criteria

The total number of students to be admitted shall be equal to sanctioned intake capacity of the Polytechnic/Institution. A consolidated merit list based on the marks obtained at qualifying examination shall be prepared arranging all application irrespective of castes or categories in the order of merit and the admitting authority shall exhibit on the notice board a provisional merit list indicating therein marks obtained which can be seen by all candidates. The candidates seeking admission to the course conversed by these rules shall have a right to raise an objection against the merit marks obtained by the other candidates if he/she has reasons to believe that they are not given correctly. The candidates, raising an objection, shall lodge in writing his objection, within 2 days of exhibition of provisional merit list. This objection letter should clearly indicate the reasons, which led him to believe that the merit marks obtained by the candidate against whom he has preferred to complain were incorrect. Sufficient evidence to support his objection must be enclosed. Mere expression of suspicion or doubt shall not be sufficient to warrant any enquiry. The Principal/Head of the institution shall make enquiries in the matter on the basis of evidence tendered, and decide whether the objection raised has been proved. If the objections are proved, correction to that extent will be effected and a final list will be exhibited and the date of interview will be notified to such candidates. Admission should be considered on merit and with reference to the choice of courses given by the candidates in their application subject to reservation of seats and priorities as provided in these rules. In the first instance candidates equal to the number of seats reserved for Backward Classes category wise shall be filled in for each course. After filling in the reserved seats Backward Class applicants form the merits list, remaining seats in each course shall be filled in. No candidate shall be admitted who has secured less than qualifying marks at S.S.C. Examination. After filling up all the seats in all the courses in a Polytechnic, a waiting list based on merit shall be drawn for B.C. as well as open category candidates for considering any eventual vacancy.
